Another politician that has been accused of assaulting a woman at last weekend’s elections in Teakettle Village is Minister Julius Espat. Police Constable, Alicia Trapp took to Facebook to accuse Espat of pointing in her face and shouting at her. Trapp filed a criminal complaint against Espat and wants him to be criminally charged. On the other hand, Espat denies these claims and has sought legal actions on the grounds of the statements being false and libellous. Opposition Leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow commented on the situation.
Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Leader of the Opposition: “We’ve been getting complaints in Cayo South for the last few elections and this is all consistent with the victimization, the intimidation tactics that have been employed by the PUP in general and so it does not surprise me the allegations made by the police officer of verbal abuse, insults being hurled, and fingers being pointed at her and so I know that she filled a report and I am confident that the Commissioner of Police will investigate thoroughly and come to a conclusion as to the legitimacy of the allegations. Unlike other instances there is no video of the actual interaction between Minister Espat and the police officer Ms.Trap. One of my favorite colors is navy blue, no one can accuse me of being a PUP so to say that someone can’t wear a certain color is ridiculous and you have other police officers like Mr.Arzu who actually ran in the village council somewhere down south.”
