Prime Minister John Briceño will be presenting his budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year on Friday. The Prime Minister, like his predecessor, did on several occasions that there will be no new taxes. While the PM is putting the finishing touches on his presentation this week, the Leader of the Opposition says he’s looking for key announcements. In our one-on-one with him yesterday, Moses “Shyne” Barrow told Love News that of critical importance to him are improvements in education, citizen security, and the public healthcare system.
Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Leader of the Opposition: “Im interested to see what budget will be presented and how that speaks to the pillars. How does it speak to education ? How does it speak to our public health sector which is in crisis ? It is in shambles, we need a tremendous amount of investment to overhaul our public health sector that is frightening as is our citizen security crisis. So I am looking forward to a budget that will speak to our healthcare system having basic essentials there are so many necessities there, equipment, basic gauzes you know medication, there’s an issue with all of these overnight medical companies that are bringing in pharmaceuticals that are subpar, inferior. Our people’s live matter. You know the health of our people matter. So I’d like to see more investment there. The government in their medium term evaluation talked about the 10,000 houses again I would like to see more investment there.”
