Lord’s Bank man charged with gun-related offences

26-year-old construction worker, Joel Benito Choco was charged with gun-related offences yesterday in the Belize District. On Monday morning, just before 10:00 a.m., police stopped a bus at the Lord’s Bank Junction. Apparently, Choco – upon seeing police – tried to make a dash for it. Police set chase after him. Choco then pulled out a firearm at the responding police officer. That officer, in turn, fired a warning shot a Choco, who was then subdued and arrested. Police confiscated a nine-millimetre pistol containing seven rounds. The Lord’s Bank Village resident was charged with keeping a firearm without a gun license and keeping ammunition without a gun license.
