Effective at midnight, the cost of cooking will get a little bit more expensive. Liquid petroleum gas, which many of us call butane, will see its wholesale and retail prices jump overnight. The wholesale price will increase from four dollars thirty-seven to four dollars seventy-five cents tonight. The retail price in the cities and towns will also increase by thirty-eight cents from five dollars ninety-seven cents to six dollars and thirty-five cents. And, in villages, the price will increase from six dollars seven cents to six dollars and forty-five cents. It is important to note that since September one the wholesale price of butane has increased by seventy-three cents in total. GOB notes that the increase in this month prices is attributed to a combination of supply issues as US stock levels continue to dwindle in the face of strong external demand.
