As we mentioned, the majority of educators from around the country disregarded the Ministry of Education’s warning that their pay may be docked if they abandoned the classrooms to attend the protest organized by the Belize National Teachers Union. In yesterday’s march to the Civic Centre the teachers chanted that they did not care about the salary deduction and that they would remain in solidarity on the issues. President of the BNTU, Luke Palacio told the media that it is an attempt at union busting.
When Palacio took the stage yesterday inside the Civic Centre, he had a message for the Education Minister, Patrick Faber.
Palacio spoke on the points that need urgent attention and they have written to the Prime Minister of Belize to demand that the national matters be properly addressed.
