Official comparative statistics for 2024 and 2025 indicate an overall reduction in major crimes and traffic fatalities across Belize, reflecting continued law enforcement efforts and targeted public safety interventions. According to the data, total major crimes declined from 1,098 in 2024 to 1,086 in 2025, representing a reduction of 12 cases, or just over one percent. Murder figures showed a marginal decrease, moving from 92 cases in 2024 to 91 in 2025, while police recorded 38 arrests for murder during 2025. Most notably, unlawful sexual intercourse (USI) cases declined sharply from 53 in 2024 to 38 in 2025, a reduction of nearly 30 percent. Police recorded 18 arrests in relation to USI cases during the year. While some categories saw increases, authorities note that enforcement outcomes remain strong. Overall, police made 387 arrests for major crimes in 2025, reflecting continued investigative activity and case follow-through. Traffic fatality data also showed encouraging trends, with fatal road deaths declining across all regions. The Northern Region recorded a drop from 36 fatalities in 2024 to 25 in 2025, while the Western Region fell from 41 to 32. In the Southern Region, fatalities decreased from 29 to 20, and the Eastern Region recorded a reduction from 20 to 17 deaths. A breakdown of fatal traffic incidents indicates that motorcycles and private vehicles remain the most commonly involved, underscoring ongoing concerns about speeding, helmet use, and driver behavior. Monthly comparisons also showed fewer fatal accidents and fatalities overall in 2025 when compared to the previous year.//////
