Major H. Gilbert Swaso appointment as Ombudsman tabled before the House of Representatives

Major Herman Gilbert Swaso demitted office as Ports Commissioner in December and he was tapped to become Belize’s next Ombudsman. A motion was tabled today in the House of Representatives as the penultimate step for him to be installed in his new position. Prime Minister John Briceño did just that today in the House.

Now that this parliamentary hurdle has been crossed, the Governor-General’s assent is needed to finalise his appointment. Swaso takes over from Lionel Arzu, who served until April 2021.
