A man appeared in court today after being accused of stealing a vehicle from a mechanic shop.  Shawn Cook pleaded guilty to damage of property, but not the charge of conveyance.  The backdrop to this story is that Cook stole a silver Saturn SUV belonging to Freeman Gongora.  Gongora had left the vehicle at the mechanic when he was later informed that the car was stolen.  Cook reportedly caused damages to the vehicle to which he admitted guilt, and was subsequently fined five hundred and five dollars.  As for the conveyance charge, Cook was granted bail of one thousand five hundred dollars plus a surety of the same amount.
