Man and Minor Charged with Gruesome Murder of Uncle in Orange Walk

Tonight, a man and a minor from Northern Belize are behind bars after being charged with their uncle’s gruesome murder.  The suspects, residents of San Narciso Alley, Orange Walk Town, are 19-year-old Myron Iverson Betancourt, and a 17-year-old minor. Today, the duo was charged with the murder of forty-seven-year-old Anthony Derras, who was killed on Monday night. Derras was chopped and stabbed multiples time in Orange Walk Town after an argument ensued between him and his nephews. Derras was attacked in front of his wife and kids after and died on the spot. A motive behind the murder is yet to be established but police say the argument was sparked by an exchange between the men at the People’s Stadium.
