Man Charged with Assault Inside Belize City Jewelry Store

Twenty-five-year-old Deon White was charged with a single count of common assault today for allegedly attacking a man while inside a Belize City jewelry store. White, who was unrepresented, initially pleaded guilty to the charge, but after the facts were read to him, he disagreed with what was presented and changed his plea to not guilty. He was granted bail in the sum of five hundred dollars and is set to reappear in court on October 20. The complainant, Kyle Saunders, told police that on August 19, he was with his family in a jewelry store when White approached him. Saunders said he tried to walk away, and that’s when White attacked him.
