Man Charged with Assault on Female Police Officers in Belize City

22-year-old Kareem Fisher was charged with two counts of aggravated assault against female police officers. Allegations are that Fisher was among a group of men who were seen throwing firecrackers at the Police booth on Daly Street in Belize City on Christmas Eve. According to the two female police officers who were on duty, Fisher initiated the act by saying “Mek we start buss dynamite” and threw the dynamites towards the booth. Additionally, allegations were made against Fisher stating that he is a member of a gang. Fisher appeared unrepresented before the court today where he did not agree with the allegations that were made against him. The senior magistrate granted him bail in the sum of $2,000 plus one surety of the same amount. Condition to Fisher’s bail is that he should not interfere with the complainants or any other prosecution witnesses or any of their family members whether directly or indirectly. He is due back in court on March 12.
