Man Charged with Murder of 79-Year-Old Juliana Rhys in Dangriga

Police have arrested and charged one man for the murder of 79-year-old, Juliana Rhys. Yesterday, police formally arrested and charged Essien Jabari Castillo, a 19-year-old, Belizean for the crime of Murder. Police have not provided other details, but we understand that in July, Rhys was found dead inside her home in Dangriga Town. Castillo appeared unpresented this morning in the Dangriga Magistrate’s court where no plea was taken due to the offense. He was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until the 14 of December when he returns to court. Rhys was found dead inside her home on Magoon Street in Dangriga.  Her post mortem showed that she died due to jugular venous injuries due to penetrating head trauma due to stab wounds to the neck.
