Man Charged with Stabbing Sister Over Card Game Debt

A Belize City man has been charged for stabbing his own sister, allegedly over four dollars owed to him from a card game. Forty-seven-year-old, Kendrick Gordon appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, charged with a one count of aggravated assault and one count of wounding. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of a thousand dollars plus one surety of the same, which he managed to meet. Conditions of his bail include a peace bond, which stipulates that if he is charged for any offense while out on bail he will go to prison for six months. He is also to refrain from contacting his sister for the duration of the proceedings. The altercation between the siblings happened on Monday at their family home at the corner of Lakeview and Logwood Street.
