Man claims foul play in land issue

Land owner, Gabriel Daniel Castillo, has come out alleging that a minister of government has infringed on his rights by encouraging persons to squat on his 20-acre of land in Franks Eddy Village, Cayo District. In addition to the squatting issue, Castillo told Love News that his life is threatened when he goes to visit his land in the village. Correspondent Fem Cruz spoke with Castillo on the matter.

Love News has reached out to the government minister who explained that the allegations are absolutely untrue and that he has always followed due process. Our newsroom also reached out to the Chairman of the village, Alfredo Reyes, who says he does not know of anyone owning 20 acres of land in the area nor has any minister come into the village to interfere in land matters. Further probing into the matter has revealed that Castillo may have had deep connections in the Lands Department when he obtained a lease for the 20 acres of land, and that the lease has since been cancelled. Castillo has also accused an Inspector of Police of having possible involvement in the squatting situation as well. He has since acquired the legal services of Attorney Arthur Saldivar to seek redress in the courts.
