Man Cleared of Assault Charge for Spitting on Brother

Burrell Boom resident, fifty-seven-year-old Colin Cain, who was charged with common assault for spitting on his brother, was cleared of the charge in court today. Colin Cain pleaded guilty to spitting on his brother fifty-five-year-old Orin Cain. Colin explained to the court that Orin had come near him with a machete and despite telling him to leave, Orin would not. He said that’s when he spit on Orin out of frustration. The Magistrate dismissed the charge under Section 59 (B) of the Summary Jurisdiction Procedure Act, Chapter 99 of the Laws of Belize. Cain was free to go without receiving a fine.
