Anderson Trapp was convicted yesterday in Belize City Magistrate’s Court on charges of damage to property, common assault, and theft following a domestic dispute with his sister. The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to breaking his sister, Marine Elizabeth Trapp’s, wooden door valued at $240, punching her in the face, and stealing $100 cash from her room during an incident on Sunday, July 13. He denied a charge of threatening his sister with death. He was fined $205 for damage to property, $205 for common assault, and $305 for theft. These fines must be paid by August 29, or Trapp will face a two to three-month prison sentence for each offense. Despite his pleas, Magistrate Ludlow Black denied Trapp bail on the threat of death charge due to concerns for the victim’s safety and the possibility of interference. Trapp was remanded to Belize Central Prison until September 16.
