DROWNING

A resident of Saint Matthew’s Village drowned over the weekend, but his relatives believe that foul play was involved.  28-year-old Roy Kenrick Grinage went swimming in the Belize Old River on Saturday afternoon, just after one o’clock.

A resident of Saint Matthew’s Village drowned over the weekend, but his relatives believe that foul play was involved.  28-year-old Roy Kenrick Grinage went swimming in the Belize Old River on Saturday afternoon, just after one o’clock.  Cayo Correspondent Fem Cruz has the story.

Roy Kenrick Grinage, 28-year-old resident of St.Matthew’s Village Cayo District lost his life. Love News that Roy was swimming across the Belize Old River near Santander Sugar Factory Limited when he disappeared. Roy Grinage Sr., the father of the deceased spoke to Love News about the family’s concerns.

Roy Grinage Sr, Father of Deceased: “I got bad news that my son drowned coming from work and I can’t understand how he drowned because the man is a quick man, good swimmer, ex military and the thing that they are telling me that they have a man at the post there and they saw the man drowning and when they went to haul him out and he had already drowned, it’s not adding up to me because the person who they said hauled out them man still no questioning no nothing on that matter, I don’t understand what is happening. Then they said that some young man hauled my son out of the water and they gave him CPR but he said the man did not respond to him. If you are just hauling a man who was drowning out of the river or any water they will always respond to you so something is not adding up there. I want to tell the police force, Belmopan and Roaring Creek Police Force they really have to investigate this, something is wrong and fishy about it. All the foot tracks are going different directions from where my son was lying down and no one knows and only that one person answered and the two that did answer were contradictory – so it’s not correct.”
