A man was killed last night in Burrell Boom Village, Belize District. He was inside a house with another man when an unknown gunman shot at them and fatally hitting 27-year-old Aaron Baptist. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett stated that they cannot be certain who the intended target was, and they are yet to determine the motive.

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “Last night sometime shortly after 8pm police were called to the home of one Lindel Williams in Burrell Boom Village where upon arrival they observed the motionless body of a male person later identified as Aaron Baptist 27 years of a Burrell Boom Village address with apparent gunshot injuries lying on the floor motionless and apparently dead. What the police know so far is that Williams along with Baptist were inside the building listening to music when someone entered from the back of the building and apparently just pushed his hand through some hole in the door and fired several shots resulting in the fatal injury to Aaron Baptist.”

Shortly after the Baptist murder, another man was shot in Burrell Boom Village. Kyle Pinkard told Police that he does not recognize the person who shot him.  ACP Myvett told us that the gunman had been shouting at him before shooting him.

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: Shortly after 11:30pm the police had to return to Burrell Boom village to the home of one Kyle Pinkard where police learned that he was injured by a bullet to the body. What we know is that sometime after 11:30 or thereabout someone went to his home and knocked on the door and as a result of him refusing to open the door the person shouted certain comments and then fired several shots in the building one of which caught him.”

Police are currently investigating whether the two incidents are related.
