40-year-old Randolph Barrow, of Pigeon Avenue, was escorted to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this morning.  He was arraigned before Magistrate Ludlow Black on a single charge of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply. The charge involved 576.89 grams of marijuana, equivalent to half a pound. The drug bust occurred earlier today, July 11, at Barrow’s residence. A first-time offender, Barrow immediately pleaded guilty. Magistrate Black imposed a non-custodial sentence, noting Barrow’s early guilty plea and remorse. This allowed the magistrate to reduce the fine below the usual minimum. Barrow was ordered to pay $2,000 plus a $5 court fee. Barrow has until September 30 to pay the fine, or he faces one year in prison.
