Man Fined for Assaulting Common-Law Wife in Belize

Fifty-two-year-old Daniel Herman was fined in court this week after he admitted to slapping his common-law wife in the face. Herman appeared in court on a single charge of harm to which he pleaded guilty. He was fined eight hundred dollars and was given until November 30 to pay, or he faces five months in prison. Herman said that on Thursday, August 24, he and his wife got into a domestic dispute which led to him hitting her.
