Man Fined for Drug Possession Charge in Belize City Court

A Belize City man charged with drug trafficking was fined in court today after pleading guilty to a lesser charge. Jareth Sanchez appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Tehri-Ann Brown on one count of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply to another. The charge was in relation to three hundred and sixty-four grams of marijuana found in his home possession during a police search on July 7. Sanchez pleaded guilty to possession of controlled drugs and was fined two thousand, five hundred dollars along with the five dollars cost of court fee. He has until November thirty-first to pay his fine or he will face one year in prison.
