Man granted bail after assaulting girlfriend and sister-in-law

A man was granted bail after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and caused serious injuries to the girlfriend’s sister.  According to 26-year-old, Yasmeen Young, sometime after 5pm on July 18, her sister, Jayelle Young, was talking to her boyfriend, Trevor Brown (GF ASSAULT VO) when all of a sudden, she heard her screaming. Yasmeen rushed out of the house and saw her sister partially inside a silver Mercury car that Brown was driving. Yasmeen saw that Brown was holding Jayelle’s head down, and so she rushed over to help her sister. While she tried extracting Jayelle from Brown’s vehicle, he sped off, causing Yasmeen to be dragged some 150 feet down the street. Yasmeen eventually fell out the vehicle and the back wheel of the vehicle ran over her left hand.  Officers from a nearby checkpoint assisted in taking Yasmeen to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment. Yesterday afternoon, Brown appeared before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson and was read one count of aggravated assault, one count of wounding upon Yasmeen, and one count of common assault upon Jayelle. Brown, who was unrepresented, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail on $1,500 plus one surety of the same amount. The bail conditions, however, are that he cannot contact Jayelle and must stay away from her and her family members./////
