37-year-old Leroy Waller was walking on Neal’s Pen Road on Friday night when several shots were fired in his direction and he was hit to the left side of his neck. As a result, he was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. ASP Alejandro Cowo, Head of CIB said that police investigations revealed that Waller was not the intended target.
ASP Alejandro Cowo: “What Police has gathered so far is that Mr. Waller was walking on Neals Penn Road walking towards the boulevard when he was approached by someone who came from behind and fired several shots at him. This happened in front of 187 Neil’s Penn Road where a wake was taking place. Fortunately he was admitted and he was discharged of the same night. His injuries was a minor one. The man is a person of special needs. Yes we know that he was not the target, the target was someone who was standing at the entrance of where the wake was happening. Unfortunately Mr. Waller was right beside him when the shooting happened.”
Waller was later released from the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
