A 42-year-old labourer of Western Avenue was shot last night as he walked on Ebony Street, Belize City. Eugene Tillett was heading home when he was approached by a male person in a white shirt who fired one shot in his direction. Tillett was caught in the abdomen and was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Deputy Head of NCIB, Senior Superintendent Hilberto Romero stated that police have no motive and no suspects thus far.
Sr.Superintendent Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “On Wednesday, the second day of October 2019 police responded to reports of a shooting incident on Ebony Street. Upon their arrival information was received that one person was shot and was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Police visited the hospital where they found Eugene Tillett with one gunshot injury to the lower left abdomen. Information was received that Tillett was walking on Ebody Street when he was approached by a male person who pulled out a firearm and fired a single shot at him. Eugene Tillett remains at the KHMH in a critical condition.”
Police are still pursuing leads in this case including the review of surveillance footage of the area.
