A man was injured this morning in a road traffic incident on the George Price Highway. Around 10 o’clock, Carlos Enriquez was in a busito heading to Belmopan City when a white delivery truck attempted to overtake near Frank’s Eddie Village. Enriquez says the truck driver realized there was oncoming traffic and swerved back into the right lane hitting the busito. As a result, Enriquez reportedly lost control of the vehicle and ended up in a nearby drain. He was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where he received medical attention. Ramon Aleman, the owner of the busito, spoke to Cayo Correspondent Fem Cruz and says Enriquez received only minor injuries.
Eyewitness: “The accident by the junction of Franks Eddy so I quickly came on the area and I found out the delivery truck was overtaking right in front of the junction of Franks Eddy, overtaking the busito and at the same time he must have seen some vehicle coming in front of him or something but he hit the busito by the corner and made the busito turn over like two or three times. The good part is that nobody got hurt, only the driver he has minor injuries he’s in a good condition at the hospital. The driver I approached him and told him he was overtaking and at the same time the busito probably slowed down and there was nothing he could do so he just went into the busito.”
Fem Cruz, Cayo Correspondent: What do you think needs to be done to help the situation in regards to accidents ?
Eyewitness: “This junction I think is very important a bump or speed limit or at least two because it’s a junction and a lot of tourists come and it’s busy so two bumps will help a lot.”
