Man killed by “hit and run” driver

Orange Walk Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle who knocked down and killed Richard Canti earlier today.  Canti’s body was found around six o’clock this morning on the Belize Corozal Road. His bicycle was found a few feet away from him and the back wheel was damaged. Love News understands that Canti was on his way to work in Orange Walk Town from his home in Chan Pine Ridge Village on his bicycle sometime around 5:30 this morning. He was reportedly hit by an unknown vehicle from behind and dragged a short distance and then left on the side of the road. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. Police report that the 34-year-old had sustained head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the Northern Regional Hospital.  Love News understands that pieces of a black vehicle were found at the scene. We understand that police are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby stores.
