Man Killed in Lake Independence Area, Belize City

A man was killed this afternoon just after one o’clock this afternoon in the Lake Independence area, Belize City.  19-year-old, Shamar Shanton Cabral was found in a pool of blood on Balan Street when investigators responded to the scene.  Initial reports indicate that the victim had arrived at a house on a motorcycle to visit a friend; that was when he was approached by four men, and a struggle ensued.  Police Commissioner Chester Williams spoke to the media on preliminary reports.

Love News understands that when Cabral, a Mango Creek resident, was approached by the men, they robbed him of his motorcycle.  Cabral surrendered the bike to the criminals, and attempted to walk away.  He didn’t get far, however, as one of the men pulled out a firearm and fatally shot the teenager.  Investigators processed the crime scene and found a nine-millimeter expended shell, one nine-millimeter live round, a seven-inch stainless-steel blade along with surveillance footage.  Police have since detained a resident of Balan Street and are looking for a minor of Police Street and another teenager of Lacroix Boulevard in Belize City.
