45-year old David Cunil left work at 5 p.m. on Saturday, but instead of going home, the Dangriga resident went out to socialize with friends. And at 9 p.m. he was walking on the highway when police say Cunil was hit by a vehicle.
ACP Joseph Myvette: “Dangriga Police respond to reports of a body on the side of the highway in Alta Vista village where upon arrival the observe the body of a hispanic male later identified as David Cunil 44 years of Alta Vista Village with severe head and body injuries and apparently dead. The scene was processed and the body was taken to the Southern Regional Hospital where it now awaits a post mortem examination. Police investigation into this matter have led to the detention of one person who is being interviewed from whom useful information was had so this is an ongoing investigation which we believe may lead to an arrest shortly. Well that is the information that we initially had, I don’t want to say that he was walking on the highway drunk because we do not have any proof of that but we know that he was consuming alcohol along with other friends.”
Cunil was pronounced dead at the Southern Regional Hospital where a postmortem examination will be soon performed.
