Twenty one year old Jeffery Hernandez lost his life on Monday night when he got caught in a cement mixer while cleaning it. Hernandez, a worker of AP Cement Block Factory on mile four and a half on the George Price Highway, was observed with severe chop wounds to his abdomen. Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo, explains.
ASP Alejandro Cowo: “What police has gathered so far is that the night before; Mr. Hernandez was cleaning the machine when the machine started and he was inside. Persons who were in the area heard someone screaming for help and one of his co workers arrived and cut off the machine and that is when they noticed that he was in side the machine trapped between the blade and the metal of the cement mixer. With the assistance of the Fire Department and Bert Ambulance he was managed to be taken out of the mixer and he was transported to the hospital where he died later on. We have interviewed persons working on the ground and we have recorded statements on them and yes we have a statement that at this moment we are looking at. We have forwarded the necessary documents to the Director of investigations office for them to advise us on how to proceed with this matter.”
