A man charged with the murder of his brother’s murder has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. In the Dangriga High Court yesterday, Matyas Carlos Bo pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the 2024, fatal stabbing death of his brother, John Bo. Justice Antoinette Moore has deferred sentencing for Matyas Bo until August 5, when the court will hear mitigation pleas on his behalf. The incident occurred on September 25, 2024, at John’s house in Bella Vista Village, Toledo District. The brothers were drinking along with friends when they got into a heated argument that escalated into a fight. Police say Matyas grabbed a pocketknife while John picked up a cement block. John later dropped the block, and Matyas inflicted a single stab wound to John’s chest. A struggle ensued, with both brothers falling to the ground. Reports indicate Matyas attempted another stab, but Michael Pou intervened, separating the brothers. John was soon seen on the ground, bleeding and holding his chest. Police were called, and Fritz Ramirez located Matyas at his mother’s house, where he was detained. During a police interview the following day, Matyas reportedly admitted to committing the stabbing, noting that he was drunk at the time. He also noted that he could not remember the fight or actually harming his brother.
