A man lost his life as the result of a road traffic incident yesterday afternoon on the George Price Highway. Fem Cruz has the details.
Fem Cruz, Love FM
“38 year old Elroy Jones, an employee of Solid Waste Management Authority and a resident of Belize City was ran over by a trailer truck and died on the spot. Love News visited an area at mile 35 on the George Price Highway and saw a brown and white trailer truck on the left hand side of the highway when travelling from a West to East direction. Love News spoke to a friend of the deceased Sydney Phobis who explained what happened.”
The Department of Environment issued a statement in respect to Jone’s death. Part of the release reads quote, “Jones, along with other recyclers from Belize City, were engaging in the pickup and loading of garbage bags into a trailer after the annual clean-up of the George Price Highway…. He was a dedicated recycler and in his own small way contributed to keeping our Belize clean for future generations.” End of quote
