41-year-old Carmelo Chun is receiving treatment after he sustained injuries in a weekend road incident in southern Belize. Just after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, Police in Punta Gorda responded to the incident near Big Falls Village around Mile 77 on the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway. 34-year-old Zane Zelaya, a cable company technician, was heading in his company’s service vehicle and when he reached the area, he dozed off and the vehicle careened to the side of the road. Zelaya swerved back onto the highway but he lost control of the truck and it overturned on the right side of the road. But as Zelaya was trying to get out of the vehicle, Chun collided with the overturned truck. Chin received head and body injuries and was taken to the Punta Gorda Hospital for treatment. Police, we are being told, have served Zelaya with a notice of intended prosecution.
