Man Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Boss’s Vehicle

A Belize City man was sentenced to prison today after being convicted of stealing his boss’s vehicle. Forty-one-year-old, Sheldon Lewis appeared in court today charged with one count of taking a vehicle without authority and one count of damage to property. He pleaded guilty to both charges and asked the court to give him a fine. However, he was sentenced to one year in the Belize Central Prison for stealing the vehicle and six months for the damage to property. The sentences will run concurrently, so he will spend just a year in jail. Lewis stole the vehicle that he had just washed, on Saturday, September 2, from attorney Ronell Gonzalez.
