A gunshot rang out on Magazine Road this morning in Belize City. Residents and bystanders were in a state of alertness as months ago a man with gang relations was killed shortly after he stepped out of a clinic on that street. The concern was so great that a month ago a police booth was erected near the health clinic. A man was shot but police say the incident was far from gang-related. However, the victim is allegedly well known to police. The police say that at 9:15 a.m. 32-year-old Bartholomew Lucas was at the residence of Tanice Mejia. Both Bartholomew and Mejia became embroiled in an argument at 42 Magazine Road and Vernon Street and she pulled out a weapon and shot him in the groin. Lucas was taken to the hospital where he is in a stable condition.
