Man Shot in Domestic Dispute: Believed to Be Targeted by Girlfriend’s Ex-Partner

Last night, another man was shot, and police believe he was targeted by his girlfriend’s ex-partner. Around 10 o’clock, 31-year-old Oliver Ramirez and his girlfriend were at home on Cumberbatch Street when a man he recognized approached him. The gunman opened fire on Ramirez and shot him in the stomach before fleeing the scene. Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, says the incident is believed to have stemmed from an argument that escalated to Ramirez’s attempted murder.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “He reported to the police that he was at home along with his common law wife when the ex boyfriend of the common law came and fired two shots at him one hitting him in the stomach and the other grazed his head. He was taken to the hospital where he is currently admitted in a critical but stable condition. We are hoping that he is going to make a full recovery. The ex boyfriend of the common law is currently in police custody and we are hoping that charges will be laid against him sometime soon.”

Reporter: Is the ex common law known to police ?

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Yes he is a person from the area.”
