After allegedly sexually assaulting a toddler, 51-year-old Alfonso ‘Rebel’ Perez  will stand trial for the crime.  Perez, a resident of Rancho Dolores Village, Belize District, was committed to stand trial in the January 2020 session of the Supreme Court for allegedly forcing a 3-year-old boy to perform oral sex on him.  The court case stems from Wednesday, January 30 when Perez was caught red handed just after eight o’clock in the night by a 9-year-old girl who went out to the yard to get clothes off the line. Perez reportedly then got up and left the yard. Perez was initially arraigned on February 4 and pleaded not guilty. Due to the age of the child, Perez was placed on remand until he was able to secure bail, after some months in jail. This morning’s case against him ended in paper committal before Magistrate Emmerson Banner. His old bail was revoked and he was offered a new bail of $5,000, which he was able to meet.
