A manhunt carried out in Belize City this morning resulted in the recapture of Jesse Mejia on Baldwin Drive.  Mejia escaped Police custody this morning along with Hildebrandt Codd who are both on remand at the Belize Central Prison.  The two men were due for a court hearing this morning, and were brought down to Belize City when they took an opportunity to escape.  Codd remains on the lam, while Mejia is back under Police guard.  Mejia is on remand after being charged for the 2018 murders of 25-year-old, Marlon Spain and 24-year-old, Casey Lozano.  Mejia’s criminal history also shows charges levied against him for chopping two siblings in 2016, as well as a shooting incident in 2015.  The other escaped prisoner, Hildebrandt Codd, is on remand, accused of the murder of Densmore Bowen who was killed in 2019 in Belmopan.  Up to news time this afternoon, Codd remains on the run.
