Marconi Leal Jr. is not on personal leave

We also spoke to Leal’s father, Marconi Leal Senior, the area representative of Belize Rural North. He says that his son confided in him about the issues with Minister Ferguson. According to Leal Senior, he advised his son to stay calm and not worry. He believes that Leal Junior will be transferred.

Marconi Leal Sr. Area Rep. Belize Rural North: “Well he is still working with government. People are out there saying he’s not working, he’s on leave. But that’s up to the Prime Minister and I think Cabinet Secretary. I don’t know if he’ll be put in another ministry. I think he will be put in another ministry.”

Reporter: Have you had a discussion with him ?

Marconi Leal Sr. Area Rep. Belize Rural North: “Yes and he explained to me what is going on. I’m his dad so I will – but I told him no matter what happens wherever you go you just work and do your best and you’ll be alright.”

Reporter: Was it maybe a case of  he didn’t necessarily see eye to eye ?

Marconi Leal Sr. Area Rep. Belize Rural North: “As a CEO he has a leadership role. The Minister is also a leader and if you’re not seeing eye to eye, and that happens in every ministry you have people who won’t be seeing eye to eye so whatever comes will be good for him.”
