Mayor Bernard Wagner Comments on Commercial Activity of the City

Second-term Mayor Bernard Wagner says his new council will be looking at stimulating commerce and employment in Belize City.

Second-term Mayor Bernard Wagner says his new council will be looking at stimulating commerce and employment in Belize City.  Love News spoke with him minutes after he was sworn into office this week.

Bernard Wagner, Mayor of Belize City: “As you know the pandemic disrupted not only Belize City or Belize’s economy but it disrupted the global economy and so once you are able to build collaboration and do shared ventures with the central government that is friendly to you, once you are able to deepen collaboration and deepen and strengthen relationships with a central government you’ll have to be able to do shared ventures working together where you believe that you can empower or make the environment more susceptible for ease of doing business in the city. That is some of the areas we want to work with the government. We are focusing on Plan Belize. We believe that the Plan Belize has to be localized, it has to be driven from a local standpoint. You can have the national level Plan Belize but you have to localize it because it’s at the local level that everything happens.”
