Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner says that all is well between him and Deputy Mayor Allan Pollard, as they continue the work of the Belize City Council. Last year, Pollard attempted to challenge Wagner for the mayoral seat, subsequently creating a rift of sorts within the PUP and the council. Pollard’s bid was rejected, and there were some tensions even after a successful re-election in March. Wagner had chalked up the political moves to a youthful ignorance on Pollard’s part. In an update, Mayor Wagner says all’s well that ends well.

Bernard Wagner, Mayor of Belize City: “We have had a great relationship. If you notice we are…. I just think sometimes in life you will meet little hurdles and it’s how you address those challenges and I think the mere fact that the city administrator is a person who communicates well and understands the intricacies of the council and the intricacies of the political domain as well he has been able to manage that with the councilors and similarly in my view I’ve had a wonderful relationship with all the councilors to date.”
Pollard was one of three Belize City Councilors who had their eye on elevating to central government. With his last two attempts at moving up unsuccessful, his political future remains uncertain
