About the Host

Karen Michelle Coote, born in Belize City on January 13, is the eldest of her mother’s three children.

She started her education at an early age, graduating from All Saints Primary School at only 12. Karen then attended Pallotti High School, Belize Technical College (BTC) and St John’s College Evening Division.

Her first job was as a Secretary and Payroll Clerk at the age of 17. Her interest in radio came later on when she applied for an Announcer’s job at Love FM.

Karen got a call that there was a job opening but for a Receptionist which she accepted. She started working at Love FM on February 15, 1999, as a receptionist for about one year. During that time, she acquainted herself with the equipment and duties of an Announcer.

Her first on air shift was the midnight to 6 am slot. She did a few midnight shifts until finally, she was hired as an Announcer. That was some 20 years ago. As an Announcer Karen was given the opportunity to take several media courses in Belize: at the University of the West Indies (UWI) CARIMAC in Jamaica. She excelled in each one.
