Meighan Brothers Acquitted of Gang Affiliation Charge

Tyrone and Ellis Meighan were acquitted of a charge of gang affiliation in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today. The Meighan brothers appeared in court on a charge of a single count of being a member of a gang, specifically the Ghost Town Crips. After a lengthy trial, with as many as twenty witnesses testifying for the prosecution, the Senior Magistrate ruled that the prosecution did not successfully prove that the men were a member of a gang for the purposes of committing criminal activity. Outside of the courtroom, the men declined an interview but could not hide their elation at being cleared of the charge.

The gang affiliation trial for Shaquille Meighan who was charged along with Tyrone and Ellis, was done ex parte as he absconded to the United States whilst out on bail. While the Meighan brothers were cleared of their gang affiliation charge they are out on bail in the sum of two thousand five hundred dollars on a charge of aggravated assault.
