Minister Balderamos Garcia Responds to Tragic Drowning of 6-Year-Old in Belize City

Minister of Human Development Dolores Balderamos Garcia has weighed in on the unfortunate death of 6-year-old King-Shakel Wade. Last week, the minor drowned after falling into a canal in Belize City while in the care of his babysitter. Wade had been playing near the water’s edge when he slipped into the canal and remained submerged for several hours. His babysitter had no idea Wade had fallen in and only realized after his slippers were seen in the water an hour later. His family had stated they were not looking to lay blame on anyone. And, on Friday, Garcia echoed their sentiments, saying that it’s important to not lay blame. 

Balderamos-Garcia expressed that it is important for guardians to pay keen attention to children.
