Last week the Tower Hill Toll Booth at the entrance of Orange Walk Town was demolished to allow for road works to continue. The booth was operations for many decades before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country. Motorist would pay seventy-five cents to cross the bridge. While the booth has historal characteristics, Area representative for Orange Walk East Kevin Bernard says it was the boot served it spurpose many years ago.
Kevin Bernad, Minister of Health & Wellness: “I don’t think that the toll bridge will be replaced. I understand that that won’t be replaced. I’m an advocate that that should have been taken down a long time ago, personally. The people of Carmelita and surrounding villages have been complaining about that for years. It has served its purpose and I think that it’s now time that we take down that toll bridge.”
