Minister Chebat’s Driver Hamid Awe who Attacked Police Back on GOB’s Payroll

Hamid Awe is back on the government payroll. He is the driver of Health and Wellness Minister Michel Chebat. It was first reported that he was fired after an incident that occurred in front of the San Ignacio Police Station. He argued with police officers who arrested his son for not wearing a mask. Turns out, Awe was placed on two weeks unpaid suspension instead of being terminated. Minister Chebat explains.

Hipolito Novelo, Love News: Does you driver still works for you still works for the government ?

Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness: “My driver is still around me yes.

Hipolito Novelo, Love News: He’s getting paid still ?

Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness: “He’s getting paid yes. He was suspended for two weeks without pay.”

Hipolito Novelo, Love News: Okay he was rehired ?

Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness: “Yes he was suspended for two weeks without pay.”

Hipolito Novelo, Love News: I think because when that incident happened you had mentioned that he was let go fired.

Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness: “My initial reaction was that he was to be fired. When I went further and learnt of everything that has happened and how it transpired I realized that there is a flip side to the story and so we decided to go with a suspension. He was suspended two weeks without pay.”
