Belize was represented at the 51st Regular Session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) last week. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eamon Courtenay virtually addressed the general assembly held under the theme, “Towards Renewal in the Americas”. It is based on this theme that Minister Courtenay opened his remarks calling out the assembly on the hypocritical actions against its charter.
Courtenay’s presentation also touched on the global pandemic of Covid-19 and the continuous 51st Regular session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS). He spoke on the challenge of countries hording vaccines from under-developed nations.
As for the fiscal situation of under-developed countries, Minister Courtenay spoke on the need for funding to urgently mitigate the effects of climate change on these countries.
Foreign Minister Courtenay is accompanied by Ambassador Amalia Mai, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade; and His Excellency Lynn Young, Permanent Representative of Belize to the OAS and Ambassador to the United States of America.
