Minister Ferguson Says His Letter to CEO Leal Is Simply Precautionary

Minister of Transport, Rodwell Ferguson, also addressed the letter he wrote to his Ministry’s CEO, Marconi Leal Jr. Minister Ferguson coyly stated that although there is currently no concrete evidence of any misappropriation of funds, he wants to ensure that it doesn’t happen. The letter which was written in February of this year was leaked to the public, sparking concerns about potential financial mismanagement in the Ministry being that the Minister tied his CEO’s hands to not spending anything over five thousand dollars without his approval. Minister Ferguson told the media that his actions were simply a precautionary measure based on information he had received.

Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Youth, Sports and Transport: “I got some information and I put out the letter but I will not go any further until I do my research and see exactly what went wrong if anything went wrong in my ministry. I will not tolerate it.

Reporter: But you said in your Facebook post that there was no form of hanky panky –

Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Youth, Sports and Transport: “I said if there is any okay ? I just came back yesterday when I go back I will call all my technical people together and I’ll do my investigation for myself. When I go to the National Assembly regardless of what they system says I go and I vote for a part of the budget. I want that budget to be spent wisely and accurately and responsibly.”
