Minister Henry Usher passes on the Home Affairs portfolio

Love News has confirmed that Minister Henry Usher has indicated a preference to remain within his current areas of responsibility rather than take on the expanded Home Affairs and Enterprise portfolio. The development has prompted Prime Minister John Briceño to begin a second round of internal Cabinet deliberations just days after announcing a reshuffle.   According to information reaching our newsroom, Minister Oscar Mira has stepped forward as the leading choice to assume the Home Affairs portfolio, an addition to his current responsibilities for Defence and Border Security. If finalized, the move would consolidate key national security functions under one minister.  Usher’s preference, we are told, reflects his desire for continuity and stability in the areas of public service, where he has been leading several long-term administrative and governance reforms.  At this time, it remains unclear what revised portfolio Usher will ultimately be assigned once Cabinet realignments are completed.  The Government is expected to issue an official release early next week on the changes.  Love News will continue to monitor developments as the Prime Minister finalizes the new configuration of ministerial responsibilities.
