Minister Hyde Addresses Environmental Concerns Over Placencia Peninsula Resort Development

Minister Hyde also spoke on the Will Bauer Flats and the future of development in the area located off the Placencia Peninsula. For months, fishers from southern Belize have opposed the construction of a resort in the area and have staged demonstrations. However, the proposed developers, Angel Fish Caye LLC, did receive the necessary approval from the National Appraisal Committee (NEAC). Nonetheless, Minister of Natural Resources Cordel Hyde says something will be done to address the environmental concerns, which may include compensating the developers.
