Minister Mai Speaks at the FAO Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean

The thirty-seventh session of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean (LARC 37) is being held in Quito, Ecuador. The Regional Conference is specifically focused on the new FAO Strategic Framework 2022-2031. This framework is geared at moving towards more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agri-food systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, which are referred to as the four betters. The Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, Jose Abelardo Mai, attended the conference virtually. Mai addressed the ministry’s focus on their four priorities and the FAO’s work in Belize such as a school feeding program and climate change resilience.

The Regional Conference is held every two years and brings together the governments of the thirty-three Member States of FAO in Latin America and the Caribbean to establish the regional priorities of the organization for the next biennium.
